Chhath छठ

A festival of the Sun god celebrated mainly in the Terai, with offerings at sunset and sunrise.

Chhath is dedicated to Surya, the Sun god, and Chhathi Maiya. Devotees fast — often without water — and make offerings to the setting and rising sun while standing in rivers and ponds.
