Mha Puja & Nepal Sambat New Year म्ह पूजा

The Newar ritual of worshipping one’s own body, on the first day of the Nepal Sambat year.

Mha Puja means “worship of the body”. Newar families sit in rows before a mandala drawn for each person and perform a ritual to purify and strengthen the self for the coming year. The same day begins the new year of Nepal Sambat, the traditional Newar calendar.
